Once every year we produce text books for the pre-school children. A yearly budget is about $25 USD per child to his/her own learning book plus some extra school material needed. Currently there are about 50 children in this program.
These books are composed by Cibele and a few other missionary teachers who specialize in teaching children Portuguese, math, knowledge about God and the world around.
Why do we offer snacks?
Most families in the villages where we are working live in severe poverty. Consequently most of these families aren’t
capable of contributing much more beyond the token school fee that we charge for their child’s education. In addition the children also walk long distances to make it to the pre-school hence we provide snacks for them once a day as a way to help them be strong and encouraged.
For this project we need about $120 USD per month in order to be able to consistently provide these necessities.
CAN I READ?
This is another project in our education department,
The project consists of helping selected pupils from local public schools. The weak educational system and curriculum in Mozambique is a well known fact by (the government) at present yet little is being done to change it. In this project we are trying to restore kids aged from 8 to 12 years of age that still can’t read or do mathematics.
Our challenge with this project is obtaining a copying machine to enable us make copies of the learning materials that Cibele and a professional teacher put together for these children.
This year there are 120 pupils are involved in this project .
